Last full day in Mexico City – I know you have done a lot of walking but you can do it! If I went back to CDMX I would skip going to this area but you have to do it the first time at least.
Stop 1: Mercado Merced (we had originally planned on going to Ricos Tacos Toluca as suggested on Bizarre Foods). Eat breakfast here, lots of great food around. I actually don’t have any pictures, I was so overwhelmed with all the stuff to see and things to buy. I scored two pairs of huaraches at least. It is such a huge maze, 3 football fields long and a total maze.
Stop 2: Zocalo
Stop 3: Azul Historico, stop here for a #treatyoself lunch. Find out more here: CDMX – Azul Historico.
Stop 4: House of Tiles, I heard that you could go in here but we couldn’t figure out how to get in so this was a stop I wish I had done some more research.
Stop 5: Palacio de Bellas Artes, it was gorgeous but the amount of tourists around turned me off. Would have also been cool if we could have gone inside and toured around.
Stop 6: Alameda Central, huge plaza/park right next to Palacio de Bellas Artes. It was a good people watching spot.
Stop 7: Museo Mural Rivera, we had planned on coming here in the first place but it was extra fun when it started storming and we had a place to hide. It also happened to be free that day so double yay.
Stop 8: Paseo Reforma, I don’t have a photo for this one either but it was unexciting. I read that on Sundays they shut the street down and allow people to walk the streets. Either we were in the wrong part, there at the wrong time, or I read wrong.
Stop 9: Monumento a la Revolucion, I was so happy to have stumbled upon this sight. It was completely unplanned and I hadn’t read about it anywhere. The view from the top was incredible.
Ximena.
