Bracero – Little Italy, San Diego

Treated my parents to a night out, my mom suggested this spot in Little Italy. I am starting to warm up to upscale Mexican food. I am normally such a huge snob when it comes to Mexican food but now my motto is either I want it as cheap as can be in the secret spots or upscale and refined. Bracero was expensive so next time I visit San Diego I will be hitting up happy hour.

Couldn’t help but dive straight into the Guacamole, I had to make everyone stop to snap this. The pepper on top of the chips was an unusual twist and really added to the dish (this is the type of place where you call guacamole a dish).

Unidentifiable drink that I can no longer find on their menu. It was delicious and spicy, so maybe ask for that.

Albacore Two Ways, this was by far my favorite dish. Everything went so well together, thanks to all the yelp folks for suggesting this one.

Corn Masa Crispy Perfect Egg, another yelp suggestion. I am torn on this one. I thought it was really good but I wouldn’t order it right away next time, gotta give that octopus a chance. Plus my dad has a thing about raw eggs so I pretty much ate this one on my own.

Tamal de Rajas con Elote y Queso – It is almost impossible to say anything bad about the dishes we had ordered, this was not amazing but not boring either.

Fava Bean Molote

Acorn & Kabocha Squash in Mole Negro, the mole in this dish was so good and really authentic. This might have been my favorite second of the bunch and would not hesitate to order again.

Ximena.
