I have written about Gjelina once before, Work From Home (from Venice), but I think it deserves its own post. Gjelina is a popular restaurant situated on Abbot Kinney in Venice serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have only been for breakfast/brunch but have heard great things about their dinner menu. To me this is a treat-yo-self sort of meal, breakfast will run in the 20-30 dollar range. They also include an automatic 20% fee to every meal so you don’t need to fuss around with tipping after.
Huge thanks to my sister for always showing me around LA and suggesting delicious food. Speaking of sisters…Gjelina also has a sister restaurant called Gjusta that is a lot more casual and equally as amazing. You can read more about Gjusta here – LA Weekend.
Labneh on Toast, Jam, Olive Oil, and Sea Salt – We had to google Labneh before ordering, it is basically a very thick greek yogurt type spread. I looked kinda dinky when it came out but was really good.
Moroccan Baked Eggs, Merguez, Tomato Sauce, Cilantro, Yogurt – This is basically like Shakshuka right? It’s pretty amazing and I highly recommend it.
Crispy Fingerling Potatoes – Maybe the only thing I have ordered here that I wouldn’t order again, it isn’t really worth the $10. My sister and I walked away wishing we had shelled out a couple more bucks for the salmon toast we were considering. Overall the meal will be amazing and you will love it.
Ximena.
